Study Group: What Price Glory? – The Growing Distrust against Government

Talk with Laurence Stallings and Scott Stelle, d.a.i. Tübingen.

What Price Glory? – The Growing Distrust against Government, and the Credibility of Congress and Presidency Today.

Our point of departure is the downward spiral of faith and doubt in our cherished institutions since the Kennedy assassination, a slow slide to the bottom, to the breaking point. Let us explain:

We have at the same time a polarizationof politics (gridlock, backlash), an Economy of greed and corruption drowning in debt, a culture fragmented into target groups with fewer common values (the social glue of any society), and a government in the form of an establishment, completely out of touch with its own people (inability to govern, new populism of the right and left with a Battle Cry that the system itself must be broken).

One thing is certainly crystal clear, the rabble rouser language and rhetoric of the Presidential Campaign of 2016 was an insult to the intelligence of any thinking person.

Without a conscientious remembering of what we have been, it will be impossible to envision what we might still yet become.

But for now the “preacher, he say there’s a trouble, trouble be a comin’, I can read it like the back of my hand” – Amen. We are hoping for a great quarter!

Come one, come all…
